Competent Person – Fall Protection Training

Course Duration: 1 day

Format: Classroom with practical exercises

Pre-requisites: Nil

This course aims to help students understand standard fall protection systems in the general work environment and learn how to select and use them correctly.

This training is suited for those who perform work duties at height in various at-height jobsite situations and those who may be responsible for selecting and utilizing the appropriate system components.

Course Overview:

  • * Fall hazard identification
  • * Fundamentals of working at height
  • * Fall protection oversight
  • * Passive systems
  • * Administrative controls
  • * Fall arrest system components
  • * Harness donning and inspection
  • * Equipment care
  • * Rescue requirements
  • * System selection and setup

Each participant will receive a course workbook and end-user certification upon successfully completing the course.

To pass this course, each participant must meet the following criteria:

  • * Complete all challenge questions and workbook exercises.
  • * Participate in the following skill development questions.
  • * Skills Development #1 – Harness Fitting and Partner Check
  • * Skills Development #2 – End-User Inspections
  • * Skills Development #3 – System Analysis
  • * Achieve 70% on a closed-book written test
